Bemax Trophy - Womens team come top at Cambridge

Hertfordshire women beat Essex for the first time in the Bemax Trophy at Cambridge in the traditional end of season Inter County winning by 270 point to 253. Hertfordshire led from the first event and although Essex got within 6 points during the later stages a clean sweep in the last 3 events (javelin and both relays) ensured victory. Laura Wake set Hertfordshire of to a great start with a win in the 400m hurdles which she followed up by winning the 400m later in the afternoon.  Further wins were recorded by Hayley Beard in the 800m, Lizzie Bird in the 1500m, Victoria Webster 3000m and Eloise Meakins in the javelin. These were backed up by B string wins from Jo Richards 100m, Deborah Willis 400m, Sian Harry 800m, Sandra Reed triple jump, Chloe Vernon Hamilton javelin and Millie Phelan shot. Beccy Knapp set a new club record for SNHAC in the hammer. Olivia Harry, Hayley Jane Cone, Jo Richards and Laura Wake survived a change over scare to win the 4x100m relay and to complete the afternoon Sian Harry, Alice Rackham, Sandra Reed and Laura Wake comfortably won the 4x400m relay.
